Anti-discrimination legislation
Tasmania's Anti-Discrimination Act 1998 protects a mother's right to breastfeed.
Breastfeeding in any public space in Tasmania is allowed by law. Legislation specifically states that a person must not discriminate against another person on the grounds of breastfeeding.

Are you being discriminated against?
If you are breastfeeding your baby in public and are asked to stop breastfeeding or leave an area you are being discriminated against.
If you believe you are being discriminated against, it may be enough to point this out to the person or service and inform them about anti-discrimination legislation.
If you are not satisfied with their response, or would like to take it further, you could tell your family, friends or the media.
You could also make a complaint to the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner in your state. Tasmanians should visit: https://equalopportunity.tas.gov.au/complaints
